SERVE, Inc. (Securing Emergency Resources through Volunteer Efforts) was founded in 1975 by a group of churches, local organizations and concerned citizens to pool resources and meet emergency needs for families. Since then, we have grown to provide five programs with an annual operating budget of $1.8 million. In 2002, we unveiled a new 3 building facility on a 5 acre campus in Manassas with a 60-bed family care shelter and the largest food distribution warehouse in Northern Virginia. Our custom-designed facility allows us to provide shelter, food, emergency assistance and other services, as well as space for other nonprofits to operate. Today, SERVE continues to help families and individuals in crisis and provide stabilizing support to promote self sufficiency. SERVE employs 22 staff, but relies on over 560 volunteers to provide over 21,000 hours of service as an in-kind contribution of $431,474 to make these programs possible.
