Shilpa Architects Planners Designers is an international, award-winning firm of architects and designers headquartered in Chennai. The firm was founded in 1979 by Sheila Sri Prakash who is internationally acknowledged as the first woman in India to establish her own practice. A few years ago, Shilpa acquired a firm called SGBL Studio, which has offices in Chicago, New York and Seoul and has executed projects globally including the US, Belgium, Norway, China, Japan, Kuwait etc. Shilpa also executes high-end turnkey design-build solutions through a wholly-owned subsidiary called Stone Lotus. The firm is best known for its work in environmentally and socioeconomically sustainable design.
