Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning

Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning (SAEL) is a project-based charter high school program located in Nevada City, CA. Through the EL Education approach, students learn to do more than they think possible. Students are challenged to solve real world problems via interdisciplinary academics that culminate in a high quality product that serves an authentic purpose. Using Growth Mindset with a mastery based grading approach that honors the learning process, SAEL is challenging what high school is and should be. The teachers and staff are passionate changemakers who believe in the power of providing students with the opportunity to fail and rise with support and feedback.
