Smithsonian National Zoological Park

The Smithsonians National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute leads the Smithsonians global efforts to save species, better understand ecosystems and train future generations of conservationists. Founded in 1889, the Zoo is part of the Smithsonian Institution, the worlds largest museum and research complex. Its two campuses are home to more than 2,000 animals, including some of the planets most critically endangered species.
