SMK Sultan Badlishah

SMK Sultan Badlishah, a secondary school in Kulim, Kedah was founded on January 8, 1948, when the Kedah Volunteer Force Drill Hall changed its name and use to a Government English School. The original location of the buildings in this school district covered 9,368 acres. The structures were constructed and utilised as a military camp and administrative office during the Second World War between 1941 and 1945 under the rule of the British Government. The idea and effort to establish this school was led by the late Datuk Sri Syed Omar Shahabudin, the Kulim District Officer at that time, when he saw that most parents had to bear the high costs of sending their children to study in Bukit Mertajam and Sungai Petani as there were no other schools nearby. As one of the oldest structures in the Kulim District, SMK Sultan Badlishah is special in its own right. The grand main structure in front of the school is still sturdy and secure for usage today.
