Society of Gender Professionals

Gender specialists around the world are called upon to work with policy-makers, governments, media, non-profits and the private sector on a range of activities from gender mainstreaming, inclusion and integration to program design, research and evaluation, gender budgeting or policy analysis, organizational audits and more. Gender specialists are expected to understand and apply feminist theoretical frameworks and methodologies to a range of technical sectors, such as education, agriculture, infrastructure, nutrition and economics. A number of professional organizations exist in many technical sectors serving gender specialists work, and some include subsets that focus on gender or feminist praxis. But no cross-cutting association exists to professionalise the gender field and meet the needs of a growing group of gender specialists across sectors and around the world.
