Serving the Community for 3 Generations Somerville Lumber opened for business in nearby Somerville, NJ in 1935. Founded by Abe Schumer, the business originally sold building materials reclaimed from demolished buildings. As business began to grow, we moved to its current location in Bridgewater. Abes son, Jack took over the business and was instrumental in modernizing and expanding the company. Based on a culture of Customer Service, Somerville Lumber was hugely successful as a provider of quality building materials to both the contractor and to homeowners. Jacks wife, Susan, joined the company as business began to grow and helped to enhance the product lines from her understanding of the customers perspective. The business continues to grow as our decking department is now the DeckCenter and moved to occupy its own space 2 doors down.
