South Congress Cafe emerged in 2003, influenced by a new generation of local artists and fare. Our restaurant reflects how we feel about our food. We keep our roots in what works in the past while always striving to challenge ourselves with new ideas. Our building was originally a drug store built in the 1940s. To preserve the charm and history of old Austin, we showcase the original brick structure in our bar, but also have kept it up to date with modern architectural details
