Ltd., was founded by Late Shiekh Abdullah Abbar Sixty-Five years ago when supermarkets were not known and the existing environment at that time was not familiar with such type of self-service retail stores, However, presently owned by M/s. Ghazi Abdullah Abbar & Sons Company with long experience in food importing, distribution, and manufacturing, which owns the Star Markets chain, emerges as one of the pioneers in the supermarket industry in the Kingdom. Sixty-Five years ago, the first Star Grocery was opened at Makkah Road Kilo 2 in Jeddah. It was the first self-service grocery in the Kingdom. We were the first to introduce the self-service grocery concept in the Kingdom, which is known today by the term supermarket. Abbar & Sons Company was the pioneer to establish the first Self Service Supermarket in Jeddah located in KM. No. 2 under the trading name of Star Grocery.
