History of SHRC In year 2001, Government of Chhattisgarh initiated measures to strengthen the health system of Chhattisgarh and announced a statewide programme of Community Health Workers called Mitanin Programme. SHRC was conceptualized as a collaboration between Government and civil society in order to provide necessary technical support to the health department for designing and implementing health sector reforms in the state including community-based health programmes like Mitanin. The health department entered into a MoU with ActionAid India, a civil society organization for setting up SHRC. SHRC was registered as an autonomous society in 2004. It has a 17 member Governing Board including three ex-officio members from health department. SHRC has an MOU with the State Health Society of Chhattisgarh government and the MoU is renewed periodically.
