Stichting Texels Museum consists of Ecomare, Museum Kaap Skil, the Lighthouse and the House of Antiquities. With over 435,000 visitors a year its one of the the largest museum organisations in the Netherlands. The Wadden area of Texel is part of the World Heritage Site. In order to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an area must be extremely special. It must have unique natural values, be intact and be assured of proper protection. The Wadden Area is recognized as a World Heritage Site thanks to an unparalleled dynamic landscape. An important part of this area is home to the museums and marine animal shelter of the Texels Museum Foundation (STM). Its not just the natural beauty that characterizes this area.
