Originally known as Cremona and over the years going through serveral changes, Strunal Schonbach today presents a company with focus not just on the history of the regions but also a fresh look at the production of string instruments in the town of Luby and the Czech republic. The production of musical instruments in the Luby region goes back as far as 1664 with the oldest preserved instrument being a violin by Johann Adam Popel. The town was originally called Schonbach and renamed Luby just after the end of WWII. The addition of Schobach to the name is a homage to the history of the region and the quality Luthiers who for centuries learned and perfected their trade here. Strunal Schonbach use modern technology, craftsmen and women as well as engineers and work with quality resonance woods from both local and exotic sources to meet todays demands of musicians world wide.
