StudentsFirst is a national movement founded by former Washington, DC Chancellor Michelle Rhee to transform our public education system. Americas schools are failing our kids. While some people blame the kids, or simply want to throw more money at the problem, we know that real change requires a better system -- one that puts students needs before those of special interests or wasteful bureaucracies. Not only is reform crucial to the future of our children, it is crucial to our economy. Of 30 the industrialized countries regularly surveyed, U.S. schools rank near the bottom and are not getting better. This translates into an economic loss of over $2 trillion per year and puts the U.S. at risk for not being able to compete in our global economy.
