Sustainable Screens Australia is an industry-led initiative that is addressing the growing need to reduce the screen industrys environmental impact. Creating screen content shouldnt be at the expense of the planet, so were building capacity to measure and reduce our industrys collective environmental footprint. Weve consulted with key stakeholders to inform development of a national framework supported by an online hub, customised training and a bespoke carbon calculator tool. This will enable a standardised, supportive approach to embedding sustainability into all aspects of screen production in Australia. The Australian screen industry contributes a large ecological footprint, primarily through electricity and fuel consumption that lead to greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to climate change.
