Vision: Advancing gender equality through education. Mission: To provide holistic quality education, ensuring every girl has the opportunity to thrive. Current work: - Introduction of KGBV Program: KGBV program started in 2004 with a vision of providing access of quality education to the girls belonging to unprivileged section (SC, ST, OBC and BPL) of the society predominantly in difficult areas. It provides 75% of seats for girls belonging to SC, ST, OBC or minority communities and priority for the remaining 25% is accorded to girls from families below poverty line. The scheme is being implemented in 27 states/UTs and 3609 KGBVs by Government of India in 460 districts as on 30th June 2014 (MHRD, 2015). Problem: - The teachers and student community of KGBVs exist in isolation with lack of acknowledgement, lack of quality in-service support, minimum expectations from these girls and their voices not being heard are some of the issues which we are trying to work on.
