The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) coordinates mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery efforts to protect Tennesseans from man-made, natural and technological threats and hazards. TEMA acts under state law and the Governors authority to coordinate with local, state, and federal officials in declared emergencies, manage grant programs to help local communities recover from disasters, and engage in mitigation efforts to lessen the potential impacts to lives and properties from myriad threats.
