TENUN translates to weaving. It is an initiative to draw together the diverse threads of Sarawaks culture and heritage into a single fabric, becoming stronger and more beautiful in their combinations. These threads encompass the many elements that keep cultures alive and evolving. The strands of tradition and modernity, of craftsmanship and commerce, of artisan and apprentice are woven together in TENUN to create a singular Sarawak cloth that can see our culture, art, language, music and heritage continue into a new era in a long, unbroken line. To do this, TENUN has established five pillars of practice. Each of these has a unique focus, whether it is identifying and supporting existing talent; extending or promoting new skills; presenting traditional culture; or even showcasing and marketing innovative or artisanal products and services.
