The Blood Transfusion Service of Namibia

The Blood Transfusion Service of Namibia (NAMBTS) is a non-profit organisation. We collect blood from voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors, which enables us to provide the patients of Namibia with sufficient, safe and effective blood products. We aim to do this in an equitable, cost-effective manner. Our organisation collects approximately 37 000 units of blood per year from 26 022 active blood donors (about 1% of our population). An average of 150 units of blood is required per day. We have two permanent donation centres in Windhoek (Channel Life Centre in 39 Post Street Mall and 35 Tal Street Centre/HQ) one in Swakopmund (4Ferdinand Stich Street) another in Walvis Bay (Welwitschia Medi Park 14th Street no.55). In the north our centre in Oshakati is located at the State Hospital Grounds and our Ondangwa Centre is located in Gwashamba Mall.
