The Finesse Collection

The Finesse Collection is a group of two privately owned hotels in the East Midlands owned by James Blick, a member of the hotel trade since the age of 14. Whether you are looking for a relaxing break, romantic escape, a wedding venue or a conference room - our East Midlands hotels each have their own distinct character and style. Founded in 2000, the first hotel in the group was The Lion Hotel in Belper. Then followed the opening of Donington Manor Hotel in July 2001, also originally an 18th century coaching inn before being converted into a hotel. The final addition was The Cathedral Quarter Hotel in Derby, bought in 2007 after its life as numerous roles, including court offices, a police station and a police museum. The Hotel was opened in 2008 and saw a visit from HRH Her Majesty The Queen in April 2010 who dined in the restaurant.
