The Mitten State

The Mitten State is a brand inspired by Michigans communities, natural beauty, and culture. Founded in 2006, weve been incorporating vintage inspired design and graphic art from the 1970s and 1980s into our impossibly soft t-shirts. But were more than just a clothing line or a brand. The Mitten State (TMS) is a project in community reflection; a running commentary on the subtleties, images, and ideas that make up the collective of our state. Where else in the country can you use your hand to show someone else where youre from? Or refer to Yoopers, pop, and Euchre without question? From our design studio in Grand Rapids, Michigan, we strive to release products that represent the Michigan story: where weve been, where we are, and where were headed.
