The Residence Society

Since 1988, the Residence Society (ResSoc) has been a key player in student advocacy and community life, playing a key role in fostering a positive and inclusive living environment for all students in residence. It originated from the Main Campus Residence Council (MCRC) and Jean Royce Hall Council (JRHC), created to manage co-ed residences at Queens. In 2009, MCRC was incorporated, providing greater autonomy with respect to Queens University. In 2013, MCRC and JRHC merged to form ResSoc, aiming for equal job opportunities, consistent Non-Academic Misconduct (NAM) procedures, and a unified voice at the university. Though ResSoc no longer oversees the NAM system, our staff supports students through the conduct process as needed. In 2021, ResSoc underwent a brand redesign and organizational restructuring, adopting a modern logo and reflecting changes in the Residence NAM system, where Residence Facilitators were phased out.
