The Salvation Army is an international Christian organization that began its work in Canada in 1882 and has grown to become the largest non-governmental direct provider of social services in the country. Our mission is to share the love of God and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The Salvation Army offers practical services for children and families often tending to the basic necessities of life, provides shelter for homeless people, feeding programs, and rehabilitation for those who have lost control of their lives to an addiction. The Salvation Army continues to give hope and support today by delivering spiritual, humanitarian, and disaster relief services to vulnerable people in 400 communities across Canada and more than 120 countries around the world.
