The Tall Ship Glenlee

The Tall Ship based next to The Riverside Museum is one of Scotlands leading visitor attractions and an important Clydebuilt link to the past for the people of Glasgow. Launched in 1896 as Glenlee, she is the last Clydebuilt square-rigged cargo sailing ship in the UK and one of only 5 left in the world. As a ship she circumnavigated the globe multiple times, visiting every continent and served as a cargo vessel during wartime. A majestic piece of living history, she represents the very best of Clydesides shipbuilding history and our nations maritime heritage. As a free visitor attraction and floating museum she attracts more than 230,000 visitors a year who come on board to learn and have fun. She is also a vital learning tool for local school children with schools from across the West of Scotland and around the world visiting and taking part in our school tour programme.
