Opening in 1975, the Walter A. Slim Thorpe Recovery Centre was a 2 bed detox centre that began thanks to a collaboration between the Saskatchewan and Alberta governments, local recovery advocates, and the Lloydminster Hospital Board. Today, the organization has grown into a 72-bed facility on the outskirts of Lloydminster AB/SK.
