TPOM - Tennessee Prison Outreach Ministry

The Tennessee Prison Outreach Ministry is a collaborative effort of over 500 volunteers and numerous contributors determined to address incarceration in this state. With one out of 99 adults behind bars, this ministry seeks to help rehabilitate the offender through Christian worship, faith-based classes such as substance-abuse and anger management and also through mentoring. The ministry supports aftercare for the released offender which includes the operation of two Christian-based halfway houses and benevolence assistance such as food and clothing. The ministry hosts an annual summer camp, providing full-scholarships to the children of the incarcerated and other at-risk youth. This holistic ministry has been in existence for over 50 years. Today, this ministry, which began in Nashville, is expanding across the state, seeking to network churches and individuals in this societal crisis.
