Transmission System Operator - Cyprus

(i) The Transmission System Operator (TSO) was established under the decision of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus (Law Regulating the Electricity Market of 2003, N122(I)/2003) in harmonization with Directive 96/92/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of the 19th December 1996, concerning the common rules for the internal electricity market, and at a following stage the compliance with the EU Directive 2003/54/EC. In 2021 a new Law Regulating the Electricity Market (N.130(I)/2021) was put int to force and the N.122(I)/2003 Law was cancelled. Article 57 of the new Law describes the establishment and operation of the TSO-Cyprus as a public entity. (ii) The main functions and responsibilities of the TSO-Cyprus are the operation of the Transmission System of Electricity and the operation of the Electricity Market.
