UCI CanSat

Founded in 2017, our team is an undergraduate engineering design project representing University of California, Irvine in the international CanSat Competition organized by the American Astronautical Society. Our multidisciplinary team of mechanical engineers, aerospace engineers, and computer scientists work together to design, build, and test a space-type system. This years objective is to build a probe that can be deployed at an altitude of 700m, transmit telemetry in real-time, and use a parachute and auto-gyro descent control system to land safely. Last year, UCI CanSat placed 1st place in both the Preliminary Design Review and Critical Design Review stages. We also placed in the top 20 of the competition held in Stephenville, Texas.
