Uganda Pentecostal University

The Uganda Pentecostal University (UPU) was founded by Prof. John Ntambirweki in February 2001 as a private tertiary education institution, the Grotius School of Law Professional Studies. It commenced its operations in 2001, admitting its first students in law at its then campus in Mengo, Kampala. Initially, UPU operated as an independent institution affiliated to Busoga University but having separate management. The institution continued to operate as such until July 2004, when the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) directed it to register as a separate institution. This directive was based on the fact that Busoga University was a young University with provisionally licensed institution could not affiliate another institution nor nurture it optimally.
