UNC Young Democrats

UNC Young Democrats is the College Democrats chapter at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Founded in 1939 as the Young Democrat Club, UNC YD is one of the oldest organizations of its kind in the nation. Over the years, our organization has become a statewide leader by hosting conventions, providing campaign trainings and working to elect Democrats around North Carolina. We have hosted numerous progressive speakers, including President John F. Kennedy and President Barack Obama. Today, our organization provides students with numerous ways to become more engaged and active in the political process, including opportunities in community service, political lobbying, campaign internships, policy research, issue advocacy, and more. We are proud to count Governor Roy Cooper and NCDP State Party Chair Wayne Goodwin among our alumni. In March 2017, we were named College Democrats of North Carolina Chapter of the Year.
