Established in 1994, the Cardiovascular R&D Center (UnIC, Unidade de Investigacao e Desenvolvimento Cardiovascular - www.unic.med.up.pt) aims at high impact clinical research namely randomized controlled clinical trials and prospective clinical studies, as well as further technological development and biotechnology application in translational research, reinforcing partnerships with industry and international networks. Based on a dynamic research structure, national and international collaborations were established and are continuously encouraged, either with academia or with industry, enabling a self-sustainable strategy.
