Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority

U.P. State Legal Services Authority was constituted under section 6 of the Legal Services Authority Act 1987. Honble the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court is Patron-in-Chief while Senior/Sitting Judge, Allahabad High Court is the Executive Chairman of the Authority. High Court Legal Services Committee at Allahabad with its Sub Committee at High Court Lucknow Bench, 71 District Legal Services Authorities and 300 Tehsil Legal Services Committees have been constituted under the Act. District Judge is the Chiarman while a Judicial Officer of rank of Civil Judge (Senior Division) is Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority. Senior Civil Judge of the Tehsil is Ex-officio Chairman of Tehsil Legal Services Committee and Tehsildar is Secretary of Tehsil Legal Services Committee.
