Visakhapatnam Port Authority

Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) is one of the twelve working major ports of India. It was constructed in the year 1933 and was opened on 7th October, 1933 with the arrival of Passenger vessel m.v S.S. JALADURGA. The shape of the coastline and the presence of natural barriers, such as rocky formations, help shield the harbour from the full force of ocean waves and currents. VPA offers a range of services related to maritime trade, cargo handling, and logistics. The port has container terminals where containers are loaded, unloaded, stored, and transferred between different modes of transport, such as ships and trucks. The port is well-connected to rail and road networks, facilitating the transportation of cargo to various destinations.
