Scandinavian Motors Corporation (SMC) is a 100% Filipino owned company and the licensed importer and assembler of Volvo cars in the Philippines. SMC distributes through Viking Cars, Incorporated (VCI) its marketing arm in charge of direct retailing in Metro Manila and dealer franchising for other regions of the country. Their office, showroom and service center is located at 2272 Don Chino Roces Avenue (formerly Pasong Tamo Extension), Makati City. Through VCI, SMC successfully introduced the 850 series in 1994 and the 960 in 1995. In 1997, the Volvo S40/V40 was successfully launched and became the entry model in the compact car segment. In year 2001, the Volvo S80 was introduced and the exciting S60 was launched in the market establishing Volvo as one of the leading luxury car brands in the market to date.
