John Fentener van Vlissingen founded Walvis in 2012. Walvis is a Dutch venture capitalist that invested in seed and early stage Dutch Internet technology startups with global ambitions. After the first fund, which still has 5 participations, Walvis launched a second fund in 2014 to capitalize on a rich deal flow in the early stage phase. Walvis Fund III is now focusing on financing Dutch Internet technology companies in their (early) growth phase and with one of the following 5 sectors: (i) Commerce, (ii) Enterprise, (iii) FinTech, (iv) Health and (v) Internet of Things. Walvis mainly invests in companies with a B2B business model. Our investment strategy is based on funding companies with long-term value creation that have clear and challenging targets and where Walvis will work closely together with the entrepreneurs.
