WASAC (Winnipeg Aboriginal Sport Achievement Centre)

Since its inception in 1999, the Winnipeg Aboriginal Sport Achievement Centre opened its doors as a small non-profit organization with 2 coaches, 4 leaders and 40 children. Now WASAC is helping to remove barriers for thousands of children and youth annually and is Canadas largest employer for Indigenous young people. WASAC ensures that all participants have the necessary tools required for active participation. These tools remove the barriers that hinder participation and help provide access to support and resources. Two coaches who shared a love for sports recognized that its not just about speed and agility but friendships, life lessons, and memories that last forever. The goal was to embrace the pride of Winnipegs Indigenous children, youth and families through sport, culture and recreation.
