University technical colleges (UTCs) are government-funded schools that offer 1419 year olds a great deal more than traditional schools. An initiative started by The Baker Dearing Trust, UTCs teach students technical and scientific subjects in a whole new way and are educating the inventors, engineers, scientists and technicians of tomorrow. The Watford UTCs specialisms are Computer Science and Travel & Tourism and Event Management. All students will study a BTEC qualification in one of these areas alongside their GCSEs or A Levels. Our broad range of subjects have been selected to provide special focus on the technical skills, trades and technologies that support the computer and digital communication, and tourism industries.
