About Us

Wellington Free Ambulance is the only emergency ambulance service in Greater Wellington and the Wairarapa, and the only ones in the country who are free weve been proudly and uniquely free since we were founded in 1927. As well as running a 24/7 emergency paramedic service, we have a Clinical Communications Centre the reassuring voices at the end of your 111 call. We also offer a Patient Transfer Service, Event Medical Services, and free community Heartbeat CPR training. Although we receive some government funding, every year we must fundraise over $7 million from our community to keep our service free. Were fortunate to have an incredibly supportive community of individuals and organisations who help us keep the free in Wellington Free Ambulance. In the past year alone, weve answered over 245,000 calls for help and attended to over 52,000 patients
