The Western North Carolina AIDS Projects (WNCAP) mission is to provide equitable access to care and reduce harm from HIV, Hepatitis C, and drug use. WNCAP began in 1986 in response to the needs of the community in the early years of the AIDS epidemic. The founders had been helping provide food, comfort and care to people with AIDS for several years. Initially, WNCAP was focused on people in Buncombe County but was open to helping anyone in need across the region.
