World Health Organization Indonesia

The World Health Organization (WHO) was founded on 7 April 1948. We work worldwide to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable. Our goal is to ensure that a billion more people have universal health coverage, protect a billion more people from health emergencies, and provide a further billion people with better health and well-being. Indonesia joined WHO on 23 May 1950 and is part of the WHO South-East Asia Region. The collaboration between WHO Indonesia and the Government of Indonesia (represented by the Ministry of Health) covers 5 categories (communicable and non-communicable diseases, promoting health through the life-course, development of health system particularly on policies, and preparedness, surveillance and response). On 1st January 2014 Indonesia launched a national health insurance programme called Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional (JKN).
