ZOO EL PANTANAL

The variety of animals that originated the zoo began to form in the late 80s. Birds without the possibility of being returned to their natural habitat, animals that where kept as domestic pets that where abandoned by their owners and mainly the animals of other zoos that closed their doors because they do not accomplish basic conditions for a zoo. Then, in 1996, it became a Wildlife Rescue Center, legally regulated by the Ministry of the Environment of Ecuador. So then, the quantity of rescued species increased. It appeared then, the need to find a way to finance their food, care and stay. That is how the Pantanal Zoo project began, which opened to the public on July 25, 2002, not only for the purpose before presented, but also to contribute to our country, an ecological and educational place where you can find a large variety of native flora and fauna Ecuador.
